After lots of work, we have finally released the 'private' beta of Graffiti. If you don't know already, Graffiti is a simple CMS (content made simple) that is unlike any other. It is extremely easy to use and installs in minutes (copy/paste).
So much for 'private' beta - get it now at http://graffiticms.com/ !

Hey Jayme, I noticed a while ago on Rich Mercer's blog that you guys had a tool in dev to migrate from CS to Graffiti.
Any chance I can give that a run so I can keep my posts?
Thanks

It's a big work in progress - no guarantees it will work perfectly, but it seems to work fairly well.
Get it here: [file-removed - contact jdavis@telligent.com for a new copy]
Just unzip the contents below to
/graffiti-admin/site-options/utilities/
Then go to
/graffiti-admin/site-options/utilities/migrator
At the moment it only works with a CS2007 database connection. More formats will come later. I would appreciate any feedback :)

Hey Jayme, I might be doing something wrong mate -
the Application Key is that the guid from the aspnet_Applications table?
and the UserName is a login name from the site?

Sorry for the lack of instructions :)
You can get the application key from your url. For instance, if you are http://myCSsite.com/blogs/atobin" - 'atobin' is the application key.
Username is the login from the site. :)

Hey Jayme,
Thanks for the help mate - it worked beautifully.
The only thing it didn't import across were posts with the same name (and some with Null as the name, which I have to look into).
Apparently I have a habit of calling them the same, and that threw a Unique Key warning.
It didn't time out or throw error flags on the posts though, it just kept the spinners and didn't tell me the import was done.
Other than that it worked perfect.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. What I hope to do with the errors above is have it go ahead and import the data and give it a temporary post name. Then I will import it and set it's status to "Pending Review" so you can fix it inside Graffiti.
I also need to make the spinners turn to red errors or something instead of just sitting there :D

Hi,
Can you please give me an example of the database connection string that this page expects.
Nothing I type in seems to work.
Thanks in advance.

Never mind.
I got it to work. I used the following string if anyone else is interested. server=servername;uid=userid;pwd=password;Trusted_Connection=no;database=databasename
Thanks for the tool!
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Jayme,
I've been able to convert my 2.1CS install to 2007, the database is on sql2005. Using the migrator, I can pull up all of the posts, but when I check them all off and go to import I get a popup with "Input string was not in a correct format". My posts do have imbeded html and links, could that be the issue?
Thanks for posting the tool and instructions, and thanks for your help.

Actually, that migrator is an old version and I need to remove it from the site. Shoot me a note to jdavis@telligent.com and I'll get you updated :)

Hey Carl,
I got the same error you did. I fixed it by adding a category and author to each entry I tried to import. See blog.posterboys.org/.../transfer-your-b for more info.
